A lossless x10 zoom on a smartphone? Oppo think about it for 2019

Nearly two years after unveiling a 5x zoom smartphone camera concept, Oppo is currently working on a 10x hybrid zoom module.

The photo on smartphone is at the center of all the attention of the manufacturers. It must be said that this is one of the last aspects to really make the difference between a mid-range smartphone at 400 euros and a high-end model at nearly 1000 euros.
Oppo seems to have understood this and is currently working on an aspect to get closer to real cameras with variable focus. The Chinese site PC Online reveals indeed that patents have been filed by the manufacturer in this direction. Originally published on Slashleaks, the schemas were removed because of the site's policy, which does not accept patents as a source.
It can include a smartphone design with a screen without any border, but especially a rear photo module that would zoom up to 10x without loss of quality through a hybrid system. The main objective would thus be positioned on the right while a second module, bigger, would zoom in the image.
Hybrid zoom technology has already been used in particular by Huawei on its P20 Pro. To do this, the Chinese manufacturer used sensors of different definitions whose images were compiled to provide a final shot of greater definition. It is not known if this technique will be used by Oppo.
A presentation expected at Mobile World Congress 2019
As a reminder, the Chinese manufacturer, cousin of OnePlus, had already presented in March 2017 a 5x hybrid zoom system. He used a periscope technology to integrate a part of the lenses within the camera, perpendicular to the shooting.
It is still unclear when will be presented the smartphone of Oppo integrating this hybrid zoom system 10x. Nevertheless, according to information from the Ice Universe leaker, a brand official said that the device would be unveiled at the CES Las Vegas or, at the latest, the Mobile World Congress in late February 2019. Information corroborated by a " reliable source "of PC Online according to which" the technology is ready to be developed for a consumer device ".
