Sony equips its new TV 8K and 4K Android TV Apple AirPlay 2 feature. A clever mix of two worlds often put back to back.
For Sony, CES 2019 will have been the occasion to showcase its dedication to the film industry. Most of the conference of the Japanese manufacturer was devoted to this theme.
This did not prevent Sony from introducing two new ranges of televisions. First we have the Bravia Master Z9G series which comes in two diagonals: 98 and 85 inches. In addition to having very imposing slabs, these products are distinguished by being the first LCD TV brand to enjoy the quality of 8K.
The Z9G range benefits from an X1 Ultimate chip that, thanks to various algorithms, can convert any content to 8K. This is reminiscent of what Samsung does on its own devices.
Aside from that, on the side of the 4K, we also remember the announcement of TV OLED Bravia Master A9G in 77, 65 and 55 inches. They are also equipped with the X1 Ultimate processor.
AirPlay 2 On Android TV
For these two families, it is interesting to note that Sony brings Apple's AirPlay 2 feature to stream content easily from a Mac, an iPad or an iPhone on the TV. It is also possible to use iTunes or Apple Music on Sony TVs. This is an initiative similar to the respective ads from Samsung or LG.
However, on Sony TVs, it is Android TV that serves as an interface. The Japanese manufacturer thus combines two worlds that we have used to oppose. In addition to this, compatibility with Apple HomeKit is also in the game. Lastly, older X950G series TVs are also concerned about new features that should soon be deployed.
The marketing of the Z9G and A9G ranges is scheduled for the first quarter of 2019, but no price has yet been announced.
