Asus reinvents notebook notch at CES 2019 to reduce curbs – FrAndroid

Asus has just introduced, in the framework of CES 2019, its brand new ZenBook S13. This notebook prides itself on having a screen covering 97% of the useable area thanks to an almost brilliant idea: a reverse notch.

Whether on smartphones or computers, users are looking for products with a larger and larger surface area. Finished the big borders, the time is with the screens borderless. Unfortunately, in either case, it is necessary to integrate some sensors, whether for ambient light or the front camera for example, forcing manufacturers to redouble ingenuity.
In order to overcome this limitation, Asus has presented at the Consumer Electronics Show 2019, the electronics show currently taking place in Las Vegas, its brand new laptop, the ZenBook S13. It has a 13.9-inch full HD screen covering 97% of the surface. To achieve such a figure, Asus is putting on a new design element: an inverted notch overhanging the screen to reduce the rest of the borders to only 2.5 mm.
To each his own style
As on smartphones where we can enjoy several schools (the notch in the majority, the slider on some like the Oppo Find X, etc.), notebook builders seek to reduce the borders in different ways while by keeping an integrated camera. At Dell, the sensors are located under the screen, reducing 3 of the 4 borders, Huawei the camera is hidden under the keyboard, and now at Asus, we can appreciate this notch reversed.

This is part of a minimalist desire for design. The aluminum chassis is unibody-shaped, while the finesse and lightness are 12.9 mm thick and 1.1 kg on the scale. On the side of the connectors, it has a USB 3.1 port, two USB-C ports and a MicroSD card reader. There is also a fingerprint reader on the trackpad of the computer.
Fortnite at 30 FPS
Despite its ultra-compact side, the Asus ZenBook S13 is powerful enough to run a game like Fortnite in 1080p at 30 fps according to the Taiwan brand.
For this, the computer has an Nvidia GeForce MX150 graphics card, an 8th generation Intel Core i7 processor and 16 GB of RAM. There is also 1 TB of SSD storage (PCI-E) on board.
Next release
The Asus ZenBook S13 will be available in the first quarter of 2019. No price has been released yet. In addition, the French release has not yet been confirmed, and we are waiting for a response from local teams of Asus to have more information on this subject.
