Between Dash Charge and Super Vooc, how the OnePlus 6T MacLaren makes from 0 to 100 in 1 hour

For the McLaren Edition version of the OnePlus 6T, the manufacturer has decided to increase the charging speed of its smartphone with Warp Charge 30 technology. But how does this fast charging technology work? We take stock.

The latest smartphone of the brand, the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition not only benefits from 10 GB of RAM, but also and especially a new fast charging system. Called Warp Charge 30, it can charge the battery of the smartphone from 0 to 100% in just 60 minutes. Much less than the 80 minutes required for the classic OnePlus 6T Warp Charge technology.
It must be said that for its new system, OnePlus now uses a 30-watt power adapter, against 20 Watts on Dash Charge so far. However, like the previous recharge, Warp Charge 30 is actually based on the same technology as Oppo's VOOC and Super VOOC charges. Concretely, it is to privilege the intensity of the electric current rather than the tension to increase the power emitted. Where most manufacturers offer charging systems with an intensity of 2 amps and a voltage that increases to offer more power, Oppo and OnePlus first rely on an increase in intensity with a constant voltage at 5 volts .
6A, versus 4A for the classic OnePlus 6T
Concretely, this allows, according to the teams of Oppo and OnePlus, to increase more easily the power of the refill. "High voltage is basically limited by the laws of physics, because there is only a certain power that can be pushed through the socket, after which the battery will overheat," Zhang Jialiang explained. , Oppo engineer in a recent Forbes article.
In the case of the Warp Charge 30 technology of the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition, it is a question of proposing a power unit emitting a tension of 5V and an intensity of 6A for a power of 30W. We are not yet at the level of the 50W (5V, 10A) of the Super VOOC of Oppo Find X, but we are getting closer.
Note also that the Warp Charge 30 block of the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition is also compatible with the cables of the OnePlus 6T classic. It can thus recharge a OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition with the standard USB-C cable of OnePlus 6T at a power of 30W. However, as OnePlus told us, the Warp Charge 30 charger will only charge a OnePlus 6T at 20W power. It must be said that the model released in October does not have protections necessary for an increase in intensity, especially in terms of the structure of the battery.
The OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition was launched last week. It is available in 10GB RAM and 256GB of storage for 709 euros. Do not hesitate to find our handling of the smartphone below.
