Iliad is recruiting en masse to prepare the future Free Mobile 5G network. A sign that shows the operator's desire not to be outdistanced by its competitors.
For the four operators, this beginning of the year will be under the sign of the race to the 5G. Between the sharing of frequencies that should take place in the coming months and the test phases that have already begun in some cities, Orange, SFR, Bouygues Telecom and Free Mobile are in the starting blocks to prepare this mobile network of the next decade .
Not wishing to be outdone by its three competitors, Free Mobile is determined to strengthen its team throughout France and has just launched a new recruitment campaign in different regions. These are positions of Telecom Research and Negotiation Coordinators, a work aimed at developing new sites for network deployment. Here is the description as made by Iliad (mother house of Free):
Internally, he is in contact with the R & N teams (Negotiators, Designers, Draftsmen, Heritage) responsible for the negotiation of new sites and the management of relations with the lessors. He is also in contact with the members of the Legal, Works and transversal project teams (Towerco teams, transmission, logistics, special projects), and also with the teams of the other Group companies participating in the deployment of Sites (Free Network). .
Externally, he works in relation with the different owners of sites, the lessors, the syndics of condominiums and the different administrative organizations.
Under the authority of the Regional Manager, he coordinates the activities of the Research & Negotiation teams at the level of the region he leads.
The job card evokes, of course, 3G and 4G, which make up the current network of the operator, but also "the deployment of 5G". This deployment should be facilitated by a fiber network already very extensive in dense areas, but this is only a first step compared to the path that remains to be traveled.
It should also be said that Free Mobile is not ahead of its competitors who have already all already deployed antennas on some pilot sites. For its part, Iliad remained very silent on the subject and has not yet communicated on its own experiments internally.
On the other hand, Free has been busy deploying its own 4G network in order to rest a little less on roaming with Orange, which is becoming more and more restrictive for subscribers.
