On the occasion of the MWC 2019, Samsung has obviously put forward its new Galaxy S10 range, but the Korean manufacturer has also unveiled its new mid-range smartphone, the Galaxy A50.
6.4 inches diagonal for the Galaxy A50
A few weeks ago, Samsung decided to renew the mid-range segment with new Galaxy M smartphones, but also a redesign of its Galaxy A range. The most powerful smartphone of this new range, the Galaxy A50 is present at Barcelona lounge where we could take it in hand.
Featuring a particularly bright orange back with a plastic surface, the smartphone also offers a notch, which Samsung calls "Infinity U" design. However, it is quite premium with features of high-end smartphones like an optical fingerprint reader in the screen or a triple camera on the back.
Its 6.4-inch diagonal screen in Super AMOLED technology has a Full HD + definition with a 19.5: 9 aspect ratio. It is a screen that is similar to the Galaxy S10e both in terms of features and rendering, which is amazing for a mid-range smartphone. As you can see, the notch forms a drop of water at the top of the screen like the Xiaomi Mi 9 and the OnePlus 6T.
The notch in the shape of a drop of water does not interfere with the notifications
We have also been able to test the optical fingerprint reader: it is not the ultrasonic sensor of the Galaxy S10, but an optical sensor as on most smartphones. The latter remains fast and accurate, it is configured in 20 seconds but it is slower than that of the Galaxy S10 in use: it is related to optical technology that requires to turn on the pixels to illuminate the finger but also to performance of the Exynos 9610. $

At the back, there are three cameras: 25 megapixel f / 1.7 + 5 megapixel depth f / 2.2 + 8 megapixel ultra wide-angle f / 2.4. It lacks a telephoto camera to offer a service equivalent to the Galaxy S10. Obviously, it will be necessary to wait for clichés less bright and much less defined than those of flagship Samsung. It remains interesting to find these cameras on this range of products Galaxy A.
A color with surprising reflections
Finally, we could note the presence of Samsung One UI with Android Pie. This Galaxy A50 is therefore positioned well below the Galaxy S10e, but it can also be a viable option if you're hesitating with a smartphone Xiaomi and even a OnePlus 6T. While the performance will not be the same with the Samsung Exynos 9610 SoC and 4 GB of RAM, but it's far from a bad combo.

As a reminder, the Exynbos 9610 is positioned against Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7xx series, this SoC is an octo-core with quad-core Cortex-A73 (2.3GHz) and a Quad-core Cortex-A53 (1.7GHz), a Mali-G72 MP3 GPU and a 4G Category 12 compatible modem.
In addition, a manager of Samsung told us that the smartphone was well planned for France without being able to give us a date of marketing or precise price.
