Passed by the FCC in the United States, the Google Pixel 3 Lite and Google Pixel 3 XL Lite seem to approach their official release date, after several weeks of regular leaks.
The Google Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 XL Lite just passed through the certification box in the United States, indicating that these devices are officially allowed to be marketed across the Atlantic. This is suggested by several documents available on the FCC, the US telecommunications regulatory agency, which certifies eight new Google devices. These correspond to the different Google Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 XL Lite variants. Indeed, the serial numbers that appear on the FCC website corroborate a previous leak indicating precisely the registration of these devices.
Tracked by 9to5Google, these FCC certification documents sift through primary features such as Wi-Fi or the mobile network to ensure they are compatible with current standards, to prepare for future commercialization.
We learn that the devices tested by the agency run Android Pie, the current version of Android. An indication to predict a release of the smartphone before the deployment of Android Q? And not so sure, since the FCC documents reveal a request for confidentiality of images of these devices valid until August 24, 2019. As a reminder, Android Pie was released officially on Google Pixel August 6, 2018.
A fuzzy release date, for already well-known devices
The Google Pixel 3 Lite has already appeared in many leaks in recent months. It would be equipped with a 5.56-inch LCD IPS display, Snapdragon SoC 670 and 4GB RAM, all in a fully plastic chassis. On the side of the photo, a single sensor of 8 megapixels occupy the front, another 12 megapixel rear.
While we seem to know everything about these mid-range pixels, one element remains unclear: the release date. It seems unlikely that Google will present its Pixel 3 Lite during the Made by Google 2019, which should be held in October. Indeed, it is difficult to imagine the simultaneous presentation of a lightweight pixel 3 and its successor, the Google Pixel 4.
Our eyes are on Google I / O 2019, another major conference to be held in early May. An annual rendezvous for Google, which usually takes the opportunity to show a preview of the next version of its mobile operating system, here Android Q. A conference that focuses mainly on software so, but maybe Google will do a sprain to present its first mid-range smartphones, the Google Pixel 3 Lite and Google Pixel 3 XL Lite.
