At its MWC 2019 conference, Huawei announced its new Matebook X Pro, competitor of Apple's MacBook Pro. If its design does not change too much, the Chinese manufacturer has brought more power, speed and more interaction with our smartphones.
To open the Mobile World Congress, Huawei has pressed two points: its foldable smartphone and 5G and its new PCs. Its new range consists of Matebook 13 and 14, but also and especially the MateBook X Pro, its new high-end that succeeds the computer of the same name released last year.
This relationship is not only in the name since the two computers are very similar at first sight. If the back Huawei logo has changed, we stay on the same design, a similar appearance and the same weight (1.33 kg). The camera is always hidden in a key of the keyboard, which is discreet, but which is not necessarily adapted to the video exchanges since our holes of nose are thus in view more than our eyes.
The concealment of this camera nevertheless gives an aesthetic bonus to the computer that displays a screen surface of 91%. Understand that the borders are very thin, and all around the screen of 13 inches (3: 2 ratio with a definition of 3000 x 2000 pixels). A slab of quality also that displays contrasts of 1500: 1 and brightness of 450 nits in addition to covering 100% sRGB spectrum.
It was a 10/10 in design last year, we remain on the same trend this year.
The difference is therefore rather on the side of his bowels. By disassembling the beast, you will be faced with a Whiskey Lake processor (Intel Core i5-8265U or Core i7-8565U) and a GeForce MX250 graphics card. Huawei announces a gain of 20% over last year, but also more rapid exchanges in everyday life with a WiFi up to 1.7 Gb / s and a port Thunderbol 3 40 Gb / s.
It is also possible to extend the display of the MateBook X Pro, the latter supporting 4K screens.
Huawei Share, a smart ecosystem
Like Apple, Huawei wants to take advantage of its presence in different markets to create its own ecosystem. Thus, with Huawei Share, if you have a MateBook and a smartphone of the brand (P or Mate at least), you can easily exchange data between the two devices with the NFC.
Paste your smartphone to your computer to quickly transfer photos or videos from one to the other or to share the same clipboard (and thus copy / paste from one device to another). What simplify the mobile use between a smartphone and a computer.
We do not yet have the release date of the MateBook X Pro, but its prices are already official: 1599 euros with an i5 processor, 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage, and 1999 euros with an i7, 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage.
