Lenovo unveiled a new variant of its Z5 Pro: a GT version that keeps the same design and brings more power with the all new Snapdragon 855.
Unfortunately for Lenovo, we can not say that the announcement of the Z5 in the middle of the year has positively marked the spirits, with its notch screen. The firm questioned itself and launched the Z5 Pro several months later with a sliding screen, like the Mi Mix 3 from Xiaomi. It was however a mid-range smartphone, despite its name.
With its new Z5 Pro GT, the brand thinks this time to have found the recipe to hit a big shot. It is the second brand to unveil a smartphone with the Snapdragon 855, if we count the demonstration of Xiaomi for the position of the first brand.
6.39-inch Samsung Super AMOLED display 2340 x 1080 pixels
6 to 12 GB of RAM LPDDR4x
128, 256 or 512 GB of storage
Double camera at the back:
Sony IMX576 24 megapixel sensor 1 / 2.6 inches 1.8μm
16 megapixel Sony IMX519 sensor
impression reader under the surface of the screen
Wi-Fi 5 (802.11 ac 2 * 2 MIMO)
3350 mAh battery
Android 8.1 Oreo with ZUI 10.0 interface
More powerful than the iPhone XS?
To praise the merits of its new smartphone, Lenovo presented the results of a benchmark where the Z5 Pro GT is obviously in first place.
According to the brand, it would be even enough to offer a smartphone more powerful than Apple's famous iPhone XS, XS Max and XR. A result that seems hard to believe, as Apple seemed to have a lead over its competitors, and we will have to wait for other tests, this time done by the press, to get the net.
Price and availability
The Lenovo Z5 Pro GT will for the moment be reserved for the Chinese market. It should not know an international version, and its frequencies are not compatible with a use in Europe. We can still note that the release is scheduled for the month of January.
