LG G8 ThinQ: the first smartphone with venous recognition (and it's not a joke)

At MWC 2019, LG came not only with new smartphones, but also with a new technology: the recognition of veins. A novelty found on the LG G8 ThinQ.

The LG G8 ThinQ should not be available in France, but that does not prevent us to look into his case at the MWC 2010. Presented at the opening conference of the Korean brand, the smartphone comes to succeed G7 ThinQ and is perfectly anchored in the tradition of LG to go in directions as innovative as wacky.
Vein recognition
Fingerprint recognition, facial recognition, PIN code … all these ways to unlock a smartphone seem marginal compared to the vein recognition of the LG G8 ThinQ.
The smartphone has a ToF (Time of Flight) sensor, like the Honor View 20 for example. This sensor, located on the front, coupled with infrared sensors, is able to identify a user through the shape, thickness and arrangement of the veins of the hand. For that, it is enough to place his hand in front of the telephone a fraction of a second, and thus to access the data of the apparatus.
The strong point of this technology is that the ToF sensor does not need light to work properly and you can unlock your smartphone in the dark without any worries. The same applies when you have glasses, a hat or a scarf or change your haircut. The gloves will however be your biggest enemy in these conditions …
Note however that the smartphone is still equipped with a fingerprint sensor (on the back) and a facial recognition system (always with the ToF sensor) to adapt to all situations.
Finally, this ToF sensor also allows you to navigate the phone's menus without touching the screen. Convenient if you're driving, or cooking by following a recipe on YouTube and your hands are full of fat.
