More than three years after their release, the Nexus 5X and 6P are now abandoned by Google. The latest update of Google for its smartphones Pixel does not affect the latest Nexus.
This Monday, Google released the latest update as of its Pixel smartphones. Baptized soberly PQ1A.190105.004, the build comes add its batch of security updates, but also some new features like better audio quality when recording video for Pixel 3 and 3 XL, as reported by Android Police.
More interesting, this update concerns the entire Pixel range of Google, namely Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, as well as the Pixel C tablet launched in late 2015. Above all, this is the first time that a Google patch is not for any Nexus smartphone. The latest models, Nexus 5X and 6P, are not affected by the security update.
It must be said that the two smartphones were released more than three years ago, with an announcement in September 2015. However, Google provides up to two years of major Android updates and three years of security patches for smartphones from the Nexus range. A duration now outdated and that makes the two smartphones obsolete, or at least the end of life. In early November, the Nexus 6P – designed by Huawei – and the Nexus 5X – designed by LG – received their ultimate update.
