Despite the rise of Huawei, Apple maintains its position as the second largest manufacturer in the world of smartphones between $ 400 and $ 600. And this, even if the iPhone sold at that price date more than two years ago.
It's no secret that Apple dominates the ultra-premium smartphone market. Android builders are gradually invading the very expensive price segments (especially four-digit), but the brand at the apple continues to fly over the debates.
Unexpected mid-range heavyweight
According to a recent report from Counterpoint, Apple claims a 79 percent market share of smartphones worth more than $ 800 worldwide in the third quarter of 2018. Admittedly, this percentage is pretty staggering, but it is not not so amazing as that.
Nevertheless, it is a little more surprising to see that Apple remains in second place in the market of phones between $ 400 and $ 600 ahead of Huawei. In this price range, new Apple smartphones date from 2016, like the iPhone 7 (sold today to more than 500 euros in France).
Huawei offers newer devices in competition. In addition, the Chinese manufacturer has managed to steal the place of second world manufacturer to Apple during the same third quarter of 2018. But this victory was much more played on smartphones below 400, 300 or 200 dollars, at detriment of the Samsung leader.
Note however that the latest iPhone XS, XS Max and XR are not selling as well as expected.
