The leaker said today that it was an intention on the part of the manufacturer. It seems that Huawei wants his next smartphones can be placed vertically on a flat surface without falling.
A forgotten argument
As small as this argument may seem, we must not forget that it is not new: the iPhone 4 and 5 also put forward their flat slices allowing them to stand easily. The argument was used in a particular context: the output then the popularization of FaceTime video calls.
