The Nokia 9 PureView is official: five photo sensors for 10 times more light – MWC 2019

On this first day of Mobile World Congress, Nokia introduced this Thursday its new high-end smartphone, the Nokia 9 PureView equipped with five cameras on the back and Snapdragon 845.

It's been almost six months since visuals of the Nokia 9 PureView circulate on the web. Expected initially for last September, the smartphone of HMD Global has been repeatedly rejected before being finally officially unveiled this Sunday on the eve of the Mobile World Congress.
All for the photo
This is the second high-end smartphone from HMD after the Nokia 8 Sirocco. However, if its predecessor did not really have a precise orientation, the Nokia 9 PureView is intended primarily for photo use. For this, it is equipped with nothing less than five cameras in the back, each capturing 12-megapixel shots. There are three monochrome sensors, supposed to capture five times more light than a color sensor, and two RGB sensor. The set, according to HMD Global, would capture ten times more light than a smartphone with a single conventional photo sensor.
Note that all devices are used systematically at the same time, even on the simplest shots. It is not therefore different optics as found for example on the Samsung Galaxy S10 or the Xiaomi Mi 9, but a unified system designed in partnership with the start-up Light, already at the origin of the L16 compact camera.

Wireless charging and fingerprint reader in the screen
On the side of the rest of the features, the Nokia 9 PureView is equipped with a 2K HDR10 screen of 5.99 inches using Poled technology. There is also 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, but a simple Snapdragon 845 processor, as a reminder of the delays in the formalization of a smartphone that should have been announced in 2018. Furthermore, the smartphone is compatible with the Qi wireless charging standard and also has an optical fingerprint reader directly in the screen. On the other hand, if one finds again a USB-C jack, one will note that HMD did not integrate a headphone jack.
The Nokia 9 PureView will be available from the end of March for 699 euros. It will be available until June with Nokia Earbuds earphones available for each order. Until then, do not hesitate to find our grip of the Nokia 9 PureView.
