Xiaomi has formalized a 5G variant of Mi Mix 3 with the latest Snapdragon 855 and the X50 modem. Yesterday, it was Oppo who evoked his first smartphone 5G.
The doubt did not really hover during the conference, Xiaomi had already unveiled a prototype Mi Mix 3 with 5G enabled. So this is an officialization and a launch, and the only difference with the classic Mi Mix 3 is the presence of the Snapdragon 855 with the X50 modem. Remember that this is a modem introduced for the first time in 2016 and capable of reaching 5 Gb / s downstream.
The challenge with the Mi Mix 3 5G was to produce a smartphone with (a priori) the same dimensions as the Mi Mix 3 despite the arrival of the 5G and new components that this technology requires. Finally, we have not yet confirmed the dimensions of Mi Mix 3 and its weight.

This modem is both 4G and 5G compatible, but it is important to note that the French 5G network is not ready. Xiaomi has partnered with a few European mobile operators, including Orange. The European operator even performed a test on the conference scene with a videoconference without any failures.
Unfortunately, Orange Spain will be able to market the Mi Mix 5G in May. The Mi Mix 5G will be sold at 599 euros, which is very aggressive price. It will obviously be in the catalog of the first mobile operators to deploy 5G in Sweden, UK, Spain and Italy.
