The AEE Selfly is a smartphone shell capable of metamorphosing into a camera drone. Production of the product was officially launched at CES 2019.
Do you like protecting your smartphone with a hull? Do you like drones? If you answer yes to these two questions, then this accessory might interest you. At CES 2019, we were able to discover the AEE Selfly.
This is a flying camera – thanks to four retractable propellers – that can be attached to the back of your smartphone as a protective shell. A manager told me however that if the object easily withstands a fall, it is better not to throw it on the ground.

The sensor has a definition of 13 megapixels and can shoot in Full HD at 60 frames per second. Once unfolded, the drone can be controlled via a dedicated mobile application. The device also offers a tracking to track all the movements of the user and a gesture control. – It is possible to take a picture just with a movement of the hand at a distance.
When it is in the shell format, the device can hide the photo module on the back of the phone. So as not to be a nuisance, the AEE Selfly proposes a slider system. A small slip allows to free the field of view of the photo sensor of the phone. It's ingenious.
The manufacturer of the gadget claims that the drone has a range of 4 minutes and 30 seconds in flight thanks to its 500 mAh rechargeable battery via USB-C. Note that two batteries are delivered with the product.
Price and availability
Production of the AEE Selfly was officially launched at the CES 2019 and marketing is expected to take place between March and April 2019. It will be sold for $ 99.
