Tomorrow, TF1 will be at the forefront of technology and will meet the needs of its users, it is promised! Today, the group is blocking Molotov a little bit, a service that is a bit too modern for its taste.
Since its launch in 2016, Molotov has become one of the most popular services in France to access TV channels, record them and access replay services.
It must be said that Molotov dared to do what none of the television channels did in France (except Nolife with Noco): offer an application for all modern platforms giving access to a service with all the functions requested by users (recording, replay, chromecast, back to top, TV guide, etc.). A feat, obviously.
TF1 does not want Chromecast anymore
Of course, Molotov must also do with the policies of different TV groups, and finds himself increasingly handicapped by them.
After the blocking of recordings by Altice (SFR, BFM, RMC), the TF1 group asked that Chromecast is no longer supported by its channels TF1, TMC, TFX, TF1 Series Films and LCI on Molotov.
Note that the official application of the group, MyTF1, is not itself compatible with Chromecast.
Salto, the Eldorado of French television
Recall that the TF1 group works with M6 and France Televisions to develop the Salto service, which must "actively participate in the influence of French and European creation".
This new service should be accessible through a paid subscription, in competition with Netflix to offer the documentaries, series and broadcasts of the major French channels in streaming, as well as exclusive content. Salto should not offer free access to the live stream of channels, unlike Molotov.
