Which smartphone Sony Xperia to choose in 2019? our selection

With models Ultra, Compact and Premium, in addition to the original models, Sony offers smartphones that cut markedly with the competition. By not wishing to impose the same pace of production as the rest of the industry, these differences can confuse the catalog of the Japanese manufacturer: this file then proposes to analyze it to see a little clearer and you to make a choice.

Like most manufacturers, Sony also uses combinations of numbers and letters to differentiate its models and ranges of smartphones. Sony Xperia M, L, X, XA, Z or XZ: these are all references whose names can easily be confusing.
What are the smartphones from Sony that we can recommend in 2019? This is the question we will answer in this guide.

Marketed since last October, the Sony Xperia XZ3 is the latest flagship of the Japanese manufacturer. It has a neat design and it wants to be nice in hand, although it can be blamed a biometric sensor rather poorly placed on the back of the phone. On the front, it is displayed with a 6-inch OLED screen, HDR compatible and perfectly calibrated.

It has all the features needed to compete with the greats. The Xperia XZ3 offers high performance with the presence of a well-managed Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC that allows you to enjoy a seamless experience with Android 9.0 Pie. Side photo, it does not have to blush with its 19-megapixel sensor that is never taken in default, even in low-light contexts. However, it can be blamed for a generally long image processing time. Unfortunately, the main flaw of the Xperia XZ3 is its autonomy: it struggles to last a whole day with its battery of 3300 mAh.

The mid-range

Although the recent XZ3 will not be entitled to its compact version, the XZ2 has benefited from this declination in small format. For someone looking for a small Android smartphone, but still quite powerful, the Xperia Compact range is a must. This model is undoubtedly one of the best assets of Sony in the smartphone market.

Small 5 inches, yes, but also very thick and relatively heavy. This is a compromise apparently necessary to keep a solid technical sheet in a small device. Nevertheless, it is nice to see that its small size makes it sold cheaper than the Xperia XZ2, although its components are exactly the same – with the exception of the dynamic vibration. Therefore, it embeds a SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 coupled to 4 GB of RAM to ensure top performance and now runs on Android 9.0 Pie.
The photo part of the XZ2 Compact is doing very well by integrating the same 19-megapixel sensor as its big brother, which, too, offers a photo quality rather surprising night. In addition, its battery of 2870 mAh offers a good autonomy thanks to the magic trick that we owe many software optimizations.

Entry level

The entry-level Sony already has several families of smartphones. Nevertheless, the Sony L range does not allow to enjoy a fluid experience that can be found on other products in this price range. That's why we advise you to turn to other solutions.
[index title= »Xperia XA2″]Sony Xperia XA2
The Xperia XA2 stands out thanks to the typical design of Sony smartphones, while offering a fluid experience and overall successful. This is a smartphone that aims essentially efficiency to suit users who require a no-frills experience.

Although the display lacks a bit of naturalness, the 5.2-inch Full HD screen is very much appreciated on a daily basis. Performance side, its Qualcomm Snapdragon 630, clocked at 2.2 GHz and supported by 3 GB of RAM. It is not a beast of power, but it never disappoints: it will meet the expectations for the majority of uses. Nevertheless, it allows a smooth Android 8.1 Oreo user experience with the Xperia UI interface and will soon be updated to the new version of the Google OS.
Unlike other smartphones in this guide, the 23 megapixel camera is a little disappointing, especially at night when it sins severely, but quite understandable on this tariff segment. As for its autonomy, it is good without being impressive with its battery of 3300 mAh.
