Xiaomi Mi A2: the late arrival of Android Pie signs a mixed record for Android One

Xiaomi will deploy the update to Android 9.0 Pie for the Mi A2, one of its smartphones Android One.

Since its new version launched in 2017, Google's Android One label promises an interface without too many customizations from the manufacturer, and quick updates developed with Google.
The company had promised the launch of Android Pie, compatible smartphones Android One would have the right to update before the end of autumn. We can say that Xiaomi has waited for the last moment, since it is a few days of winter that deployment begins for the Mi A2.
Not so fast deployment
The deployment of Android Pie starts with the Mi A2 on December 18th. It remains to be seen when the Mi A2 Lite and Mi A1 will be affected by the update.

We can make an initial assessment of the deployment of updates with the Android One program. Indeed, the majority of Android One smartphones are well concerned by the update: the HTC U11 Life, the Motorola One, the Nokia 7 Plus and now the Mi A2 have begun to receive the famous patch.
However, we can note that the deployment is not particularly fast, firstly because several smartphones still miss the call like the Mi A2 Lite, or the Nokia 8 Sirocco. Also, because smartphones that are not Android One, like the Essential Phone or the OnePlus 6 have been updated much more quickly.
A balance in halftone so, because we must keep in mind that most Android One smartphones are not flagships sold at a high price. Smartphones launched at lower prices are often left out by manufacturers when it comes to updates.
