Design: the Mi Mix 3, a unique smartphone
Respecting its lineage, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 offers a design quite unique in its kind. Mi Mix 2 and its 2S declination had already rained a lot with their totally borderless look, and especially without notch. Where the Chinese manufacturer had found a trick to avoid the famous notch by housing his front camera bottom right of the screen on his predecessor, he has now found a new parade for this new iteration: a slider that slips the phone , like some old phones. The charm operates immediately, which leaves all the space in front for the screen where the borders are almost nonexistent.
On the back of the phone, there is a beautiful glass surface that will unfortunately leave a place of choice for fingerprints. You can see the photo module vertically, a fingerprint sensor located at the pile where the finger naturally lands and the MIX logo at the bottom.

Regarding the design of the OnePlus 6T, it resumes pretty much that of its excellent predecessor. In frontage, the screen always takes a good part of the surface with well rounded edges and very thin borders. The only real difference comes from the size and shape of the notch, here in droplet to be less imposing. On the back, we find the same glossy or matte glass back, with a double photo sensor placed in the middle, but without the fingerprint sensor since the latter has now come to lodge under the screen.

Xiaomi's efforts on the design of the Mi Mix 3 are to be welcomed, the Chinese manufacturer is able to offer a different smartphone in 2019 when many others look a bit too much while surfing the fashion of 2018.
Screen: without notch, the immersion is more crazy
With the Mi Mix 3, Xiaomi goes to the AMOLED screen and it's a real pleasure for the eyes. It offers a wide diagonal 6.39 inches with a maximum definition Full HD + that covers almost the entire surface of the phone. Its 19.5: 9 format allows it to be longer than its competitors. If we appreciate that the screen is cut by no notch, we will especially love its slab very bright and contrasted.
The OnePlus 6T features a 6.41-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels. It is a slab that offers strong contrasts with bright colors for perfect readability. On a daily basis, it is a real pleasure to consult your favorite contents or to play video games.
By default, it should be noted that the colors of the two screens of this versus tend to draw towards blue, but it is possible to calibrate according to tastes via the parameters.
Both screens are of undeniable quality, it is impossible to say otherwise. But the fact that our vision of the Mi Mix 3 screen is not spoiled by any notch really enhances the feeling of immersion.
Software: OxygenOS closer to Android
By removing it from the box, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is preconfigured with the new version of the Google OS, Android 9.0 Pie. We thus find the last update of the interface MIUI 10 which approaches one more time more iOS than Android. The application drawer is for absent subscribers and everything is organized into folders. Nevertheless, it offers a lot of customization options, such as AI management with Google Assistant or slider management to add fun sound effects when you open and close it.
It is important to note that the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 will not allow HD with applications such as Netflix or MyCanal because it is only Widevine L3 certified.

The OnePlus 6T also embeds this latest version of the Google OS, but with the interface Oxygen OS. The user experience is very close to the original one, that is to say, refined and simplified. A user experience rather far from iOS so. The manufacturer also offers customization options such as screen calibration, modification of the home screen or the management of hidden applications. Finally, note that it is also possible to hide the notch with a black bar: an ideal tip for refractories.

It's a good thing that both smartphones of this versus ship Android 9.0 Pie. After, it remains to know if you prefer an OS that is similar to what makes the brand to the apple, or that is close to what offers Android in its purest form. As far as I'm concerned, it's a big YES for Oxygen OS.
Performances: draw!
The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is efficient, as well as its competitor. It embeds the SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 clocked at 2.8 GHz and supported by 6 GB: roughly the best combo of the year 2018 reused at the beginning of the year. Obviously, the user experience is perfectly fluid and the most greedy games will run without any problem. Positive point: it manages well the heater during long play sessions.
Unsurprisingly, OnePlus also opts for Qualcomm's best-performing SoC. So we find the Snapdragon 845 combo with 6 GB of RAM, exactly the same configuration as for the Mi Mix 3. Same observation: it's fluid, it's fast, it's effective, whatever the use .

As you can see, the scores are very tight even if the smartphone of OnePlus wins with little. In reality, the 6T and the Mi Mix 3 are as fluid as each other.
Photo: recycling makes a good result
The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is equipped with the exact same 12 + 12 megapixel photo module as its predecessor, the Mi Mix 2S. He was already very good, but could suffer from some gaps in low light conditions. Here, Xiaomi has added some software enhancements to achieve superior photo quality. One can see a real difference: the shots are successful, regardless of the light conditions. In addition, its software is not very aggressive for a result that is fair and closer to reality. His night mode is just as good, but it will still wait a few seconds while waiting for the treatment of the photo.

OnePlus played the same formula as Xiaomi by recycling the camera of its predecessor while adding software enhancements (since available on the OP6) to improve the quality of shots. For once, the Chinese manufacturer has not missed and offers the OnePlus 6T a photo part that is finally in the spotlight. Its dual 16 + 20 megapixel photo sensor is now able to produce even better shots, even in low-light situations.

Once again, the two Chinese manufacturers find themselves tied. They both recycled old stuff to make something new, and it works wonderfully well.
Battery: better autonomy for the OP6T, but …
Regarding autonomy, the Mi Mix 3 is rather surprising. It incorporates a battery of 3200 mAh, which is very little on paper. In fact, the new smartphone of the Chinese manufacturer holds the load and ensures its function easily from morning to evening, even with intensive use of the device. Worthy of high-end smartphones, the Mi Mix 3 is compatible with fast charging (one hour to fully charge) and wireless charging.
With its 3700 mAh battery, the OnePlus 6T does not have to blush and offers one of the best autonomies on the market. With Oxygen OS and many energy-saving software optimizations, it can last almost 48 hours, or two days of use. It does not take advantage of the wireless charging system as its challenger Mi Mix 3, but its fast charging system is particularly effective: a full charge takes about an hour, just like its competitor.

On our Viser test, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 held 9 hours and 55 minutes while the OnePlus 6T held 10 hours and 33 minutes. It is a little more enduring, but is not compatible with the fast charge … It's up to you!
Conclusion: which is the best smartphone?
Well to say it frankly, the OnePlus 6T and the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 are very close in terms of their characteristics: they have high performance, they have a very comfortable autonomy, their photo part is very satisfactory for this price range, and they are both running Android 9.0 Pie. They both arrive to offer a high-end experience while being affordable and it must be said that it is a successful bet for both manufacturers.
The only real difference will be in the design and interface of the manufacturer. Some questions must then be asked: are you a refractory of the notch? Do you prefer a user experience closer to iOS or Android? It's up to you to decide, but in any case, the writing is conquered by these two smartphones.
